Dedicated to the creative women that we know in our community.

These artistic women entrepreneurs spend every day working on their craft, learning more and mastering it.

Some are world renowned, others are local legends. They have been gracious enough to share their time with us

and become involved in Art in the Barn. Women Supporting Women.

Marissa Jacobs (Guest Artist)

Marissa is a Delaware Valley University grad with a degree in Wildlife Conservation & Management focusing on Art & Education. She combined her passion for conserving ecosystems with art and education by going full-time with her own environmental education through art business, The Art of Ecology. For several years she has been working with Cindy in the barn and leading workshops such as Terrarium Nights, Kokedama Moss Ball events, and more to teach people about the wonders of our natural world.

Michelle Brady

Michelle is a graduate of Penn State’s Graphic Design program with over 17 years of industry experience creating visual solutions and brand identities for companies large and small. She lives in Doylestown with her husband, 2 children (who love Miss Cindy’s classes!) and their German Shepherd puppy. Follow her work on Instagram @michellebradydesign

Jen Smith

Jennifer Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She gained valuable experience working with new construction, home furnishing companies, model home merchandising firms among others. Since its launch in 2009, Jennifer Smith Designs has developed a diverse portfolio including new construction space renovations, vacation homes in the tristate area, educational facilities, health and beauty salons, and corporate or individual offices. Jennifer’s designs integrate a sophisticated aesthetic with practicality, comfort, and function.

Gun-Marie Nalsen

Fiber artist Gun-Marie Nalsen is a textile artist with a diverse background. She was born in Sweden and grew up in Venezuela. She learned to weave in Sweden in the early 80’s, then returned to Venezuela to teach weaving and tapestry to children. She also taught in an art school in Caracas. In 2008 she moved to Ohio where she became a member of the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati. She loves to do needle felting, be with her family, and “chase art around town.” She is a valued member of the Arts & Cultural Council of Bucks County.

Michele Gladstone

Following a long career in as a general dentist, Michele Gladstone has taken up Custom Picture Framing as a second career.  She designs and creates beautiful and original presentations of artwork, memorabilia and collectables for the home and workplace.  Her framing designs visually enhance the art, without distracting from it.  She supplies the frames for Cindy’s kid’s art classes.  In addition to custom framing, Michele provides free dentistry and dentures to a community in Kenya, partially supported by the earnings of Act II Custom Picture Framing.

Laurie Carretta Schupp (Guest Artist)

Laurie Carretta Scupp was born in California and moved frequently in her childhood before settling in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.  She began studying pottery in 2015 with Lisa Naples.  Her work has been shown in galleries and stores, as well as featured in a solo public art display in New York City.  She makes ceramic sculpture, as well as functional work, using both the potter’s wheel and hand building techniques as she continues to evolve as a ceramicist.  She runs workshops and classes locally, including here in the barn!

Jenny paints pet portraits. She is an animal lover and enjoys painting portraits of her client’s pets for them to enjoy! She is excited to be sharing her talents as a Guest Artist at Art in the Barn! The participants email a portrait of their pet to her before class and she sketches their canvas for them to follow. She looks forward to the next pet portrait painting event!

Emily Keane (Guest Artist)

Emily Keane is also known as “The Board Housewife”. She always had a deep love for delicious things, especially cheese, and enjoy creating cheese boards to share with family and friends. Before the pandemic, Emily began thinking about starting her own cheese board business to create delicious, pretty things for folks around the Doylestown area. Unsure if the timing was right, she dove in anyway and in October 2020 The Board Housewife was born. Please join Emily for workshops where she will share with you all of her tips to make beautiful things out of cheese and charcuterie as well as my favorite ingredients and where to find them.
